Today's trek is the most dreaded on the Camino - 17km of wasteland. There are very few trees and the terrain is flat. It's considered the most boring. Having already done the Camino in 2010 this was not surprise. But what was a surprise, about half way, a person selling BBQ pork sausages and drinks. This was a good break stop. At the end of the 17km, there was a bar waiting for all tired pilgrims - serving wine and Spanish tortillas.
There was another surprise. A local had a horse-drawn wagon that was picking up pilgrims not wishing to walk the 17km. For 15euros one could avoid the trek. We met the man and carriage in the morning going to pick up his passengers, and they arrived in the next town at the same time we did. Not a quick service, but it is a relaxing way to see the country.
Morning pickup
Afternoon delivery...a slow ride but enjoyable
