It was a great day, but long. We should have broken this stage into two. At the midpoint (14km) we stopped for lunch in Melide, which is a cute town with lots of restaurants. And many specializing in pulpo. One restaurant owner tried to entice us into his restaurant and pulled a cooked octopus from a huge pot. I told him we just had pizza and he was horrified that in the province of Galicia we would eat pizza.
The infamous yellow Camino arrow. It has become the most recognized symbol.
After a big lunch we lost the drive to move on, but we kept going - up and down rolling hills and through forests. We kept stopping at cafes to rest and refill our water bottles. We had one setback, I called the pension where we had booked a room that we would be late. Unfortunately because we had not arrived by 3pm, they rented the room to someone else. I was angry, but it was my fault I did not call sooner. But a nice Spanish lady came to the rescue. We had met her four days earlier and at various cafes along the way. She works in the business and contacted another pension for us. All ended well.
Horses are common on the Camino
Most of the last stage of the Camino goes through the forest.
