Nov 28-30 Rainy days in Koh Samui

We arrived to this island under overcast clouds and light rain. The next day we ventured out with our umbrellas to explore the area, and discovered Fishermen's Wharf with its trendy seaside restaurants and small boutique hotels. It was not an ideal walk as we were dodging puddles most of the way. We decided to venture further tomorrow and visit "Big Budda". However, that was not to be.

We awoke to a torrential downpour, lightening and thunder. A bird was so distraught it sought refuge on our balcony and would not leave the balcony regardless of our presence. Around noon the rain subsided and off we went for a walk, however we did not get far. We quickly reached areas where the streets turned to rivers and scooters started to go on the sidewalk, which was higher. We quickly turned around and settled for a lunch of papaya thai salad and red curry pork, and back to our room to ride out the storm. What was surprising was seeing a few people in the pool enjoying the storm in a different way.
