Dalat December 4, 2018

This was a travel day from Nha Trang to Dalat. The bus station was just a 5 minute walk from our hotel in Nha Trang, however pulling luggage and crossing a busy intersection was a challenge. Even without luggage its challenging dealing with the constant throng of motorbikes.

We were the first group to arrive to the bus station and (incorrectly) thought we would be riding a near-empty bus. The bus left the station 15 minutes early, only to pick up at various other locations around town and returned to the bus station to pickup more riders. The bus left full and cramped, and 30 minutes late.

The ride along the mountain highway was panoramic with many deep valleys and waterfalls, but was a 4-hour white knuckle experience. The road appears to be under constant repairs due to the number of rockslides, but it didn't slow down the bus driver who was passing slower vehicles in curves and hill crests. There appears to be rules of the road, which are unclear to tourists. To the novice, drivers from each oncoming lane appear to know what to do to avoid a collision. For the tourists on the bus there are cries and gasps when there were near misses.

Our rest stop for a quick lunch. A restaurant with a beautiful landscape.
A mountain stream flowing by the restaurant.

Many rice fields along the route.

Many waterfalls along the route.
