Sept 13, Portugalete 16km

After two days in Bilbao we looked forward to resuming our trek, and it was a pleasant walk making our way along the river, along an old industrial buildings being converted into a beautiful area with new condos and walkways.

There is unique river crossing joining Getxo and Portugalete - a large cable held car holding about 6 vehicles and about 50 people. There is an elevator on one side taking you to the top of the bridge where you can walk across. Too scary for Julie to try.

Portugalete is a quaint town with a pleasant waterfront. And another unique feature is an escalater going up a steep hill for about three blocks. A very well used feature by everyone.

The town of Portugalete in the background.

This is how we crossed the river.

This foto is from our hotel, which must be a 100 years old, filled with antiques. Even the door locks are original and the foto is the light switch. Something I've never seen before.
