Sept 6-7 San Sebastian

Unfortunately the trains to San Sebastian were fully booked and then panic set in. We had a hotel reservation confirmed and  therefore we needed to switch to a bus. All turned out well and it was a pleasant 4-hour ride. And what an excellent town, set along a river and running along a beach front. There are many old buildings well maintained and there are many tapa bars. In the afternoon there were few people in these bars, but by the evening each bar was full, with many patrons spilling onto the narrow streets with their drinks and tapa plates. So many people having fun. Unfortunately I didn't expect our hotel to be amongst these bars and people are talking and laughing well into the night. Fortunately, with many years travelling, we've become accustomed being amongst party-goers.

The evenings were pleasant with many locals and tourists enjoying walks along the promenade and beachfront. There are also many young families with children playing. It's such a beautiful sight to ee families playing together.

On DAY 2 we explored the community following the beachfront and returning to our hotel following inland routes.  Its Saturday, and the streets and plazas were full of people, as were the tapa bars.

Many hugs given out by these students.

So many tapas! So little time!

A beauty! Yes, I'm talking about Julie.

A marching band going by our hotel.

At the end of beach walk is this very peculiar structural design. Apparently called "el peine del viento" - the comb of the wind. And at the same location there were 7 man-made blow holes. During high tide water blows up, but when we were there, air blew up the hole. Kids were enjoying this phenomenon
 People waiting for the blow.
