Sept 9, Deba 25km

We started the morning with a coffee at our pension restaurant, and outside on the streets there was a marching band playing clarent-like instruments and drums, dressed in local attire. This is the second town we've seen this event. However, never at 8am Monday morning. I'm sure the locals didn't appreciate this wakeup call.

Day 2 for our trek and we're feeling very positive. We followed the coastline for the first 10km rather the mountain trail. The views were stunning and the towns picturesque. We followed the Camino trail for the remaining 14km and it was hell for Julie and me. Julie had difficulty scrambling the rocks and finding safe passage through the mud.

Today we took more breaks, but it's the stops at bars that slowed us down. After a beer and glass of wine, it's challenging to get enthusiastic about our adventure.

Who does this at 8am!?

The town of Zumaia in the distance.

These two burros were waiting at the first gate and followed Julie until the next gate. A little too close for Julie.

Entering the town of Deba. A nice rest stop.
